Live-Out Housekeeper, Chelsea

The household

A discreet, established private household in Chelsea is seeking an experienced live-out housekeeper to take a senior role in the day-to-day care and presentation of the principal residence.

The home is calm, well managed and supported by a small team of long-standing staff. The family are in residence from time to time, so the role would suit someone who is equally comfortable preparing and maintaining the home quietly in their absence, and working respectfully when they are present.

The role

This is a senior-level housekeeping position with responsibility for the presentation, care and daily readiness of the principal residence.

The successful candidate will manage the full rhythm of the household — from the careful upkeep of fine fabrics, finishes and furniture, to laundry, wardrobe care and household supplies. The role calls for someone self-directed, observant and composed, with the judgement to notice what is needed and the experience to handle it properly.

Key responsibilities

• Daily cleaning, presentation and care of the principal residence to a consistently high standard
• Careful upkeep of fine fabrics, finishes, artwork, antiques and furniture
• Laundry, ironing, pressing and care of the principal’s formal wardrobe
• Management of household supplies, linen rotation and inventory
• Liaison with contractors and other members of the household team

The candidate

You will be an experienced private household housekeeper with a strong, verifiable background in comparable homes, ideally within Central London.

You bring calm, high standards and a natural eye for detail. You are comfortable working independently, while fitting easily into a small, professional household team. This position suits someone who takes pride in doing things properly, understands the particular care required in a principal’s home, and brings the quiet, settled professionalism that a household of this kind calls for.

Essential requirements

• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Demonstrable experience in a comparable private household role
• Verifiable references covering recent employment
• DBS check at the level appropriate to the role, or willingness to undertake one
• Excellent attention to detail and consistently high personal standards
• A discreet, professional manner

The package

Salary £50,000 – £55,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.

This is a live-out position based in Chelsea, with standard annual leave entitlement. The working pattern is Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required around the family’s diary.
