Live-Out Housekeeper, Mayfair

The household

A family in Mayfair is seeking an experienced live-out housekeeper to join an established housekeeping team within a large private home.

The residence is substantial, spread across five floors, and furnished with antiques, marble and other fine natural surfaces. A Head Housekeeper and a small housekeeping team are already in place, and the successful candidate will work alongside them to maintain the home to a consistently high standard.

The role

This is a hands-on housekeeping position within a busy, well-staffed household, focused on the daily care, cleaning and presentation of a large London residence.

Reporting to the Head Housekeeper and working closely with the wider team, the successful candidate will help maintain high standards throughout the home, with particular care given to antiques, marble and other natural surfaces. The role calls for someone calm, reliable and practical, with genuine experience of working in large private homes and a professional, team-minded approach.

Key responsibilities

• Daily housekeeping and presentation of the residence to a consistently high standard
• Care of all floors of a large private home, working room by room with attention to detail
• Specialist care of antiques, marble and other fine natural surfaces
• Bedroom, bathroom and living-area presentation, including bed-making and linen changes
• Supporting the Head Housekeeper and contributing to the day-to-day standards of the household team
• Supporting the smooth running of the household when the family is in residence

The candidate

You will be an experienced private household housekeeper with a strong background in large, well-staffed homes.

You are comfortable working as part of an established team, taking direction from a Head Housekeeper, and holding high personal standards within that structure. You bring a natural eye for detail and real experience caring for antiques, marble and other delicate surfaces, with the judgement to handle fine materials properly. This position suits someone practical, well presented and reliable, who takes pride in doing things properly. Fluent English is essential, as clear communication within the household team matters.

Essential requirements

• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Demonstrable experience working in large private households
• Experience caring for antiques, marble and other fine natural surfaces
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Verifiable references covering recent employment
• DBS check at the level appropriate to the role, or willingness to undertake one
• Strong housekeeping skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident working as part of an established household team

The package

Salary from £55,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.

This is a live-out position based in Mayfair. The working pattern is five days per week, 8am to 5pm, with occasional weekend work and some flexibility required when the family is in residence (occasionally working six days). The start date is the end of July 2026.
