Live-In Housekeeper, West London

The household

A private household in West London is looking for an experienced live-in Housekeeper to join a small, established team. It is a calm home, two adults and a dog, kept to a high standard and run without fuss.

The housekeeping here is shared, so this is not a solo role, and the household provides private accommodation for the housekeeper who joins them.

The role

The work is classic housekeeping done properly. You would keep the house immaculate throughout, take care of the full laundry and ironing, and handle delicate clothing and furniture with the attention they need.

There is light family cooking most days, usually breakfast and lunch and sometimes dinner. Wardrobe care and childcare are not part of the role. The household is hoping for a six-day week of long days, though they would consider a different pattern for the right person, so it is worth a conversation if the rest of the role suits you.

Key responsibilities

• Keeping the house clean, tidy and beautifully presented throughout
• Care of bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas
• Full laundry and ironing, including delicate clothing
• Light dusting and careful handling of delicate furniture
• Light family cooking, usually breakfast and lunch and sometimes dinner
• Working alongside the rest of the housekeeping team to keep standards consistent
• General household support as it comes up

The candidate

You will be an experienced housekeeper who is settled in a staffed home and enjoys working alongside others.

You are reliable, trustworthy and discreet, with excellent references behind you. Laundry and delicate clothing hold no surprises for you, and you are easy around a dog in the house. The days here are long, so this will suit someone who has worked that way before and found it agreed with them.

Essential requirements

• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Solid experience in a comparable private household, with excellent references to match
• Strong laundry and ironing skills, and confidence with delicate clothing
• Comfortable preparing simple, everyday meals
• Good spoken English
• Happy with long days, and with a six-day week or a pattern agreed with the household
• Happy living in, and around a dog
• A valid passport, and willing to travel in Europe with the family now and then
• DBS check, or willingness to undertake one
• A discreet, professional manner

The package

Salary £50,000 – £55,000 gross per annum, depending on experience, with private live-in accommodation on top.

This is a permanent, long-term position in a settled West London household, and the accommodation carries real value in this part of London alongside the salary. There is occasional travel with the family in Europe.

The household is hoping for six days a week at around twelve hours a day with a break, though the pattern is open to discussion for the right candidate, and exact daily timings are still to be agreed. The start date is as soon as the right person is found.
