Live-Out Housekeeper, Kensington

The household

A formal, fully staffed private household in Kensington is seeking an experienced live-out housekeeper to join an established housekeeping team.

The household is well run and supported by a wider team that includes housekeeping, a butler and household support staff. The successful candidate will report to the Head Housekeeper and work as an integral part of this team. The family has children and a dog, and the role will suit someone who is comfortable and settled in a lively, well-organised private home.

The role

This is a hands-on housekeeping position within a structured team environment, focused on the daily care, cleaning and presentation of the residence.

Reporting to the Head Housekeeper and working closely with the wider team, the successful candidate will maintain consistently high standards throughout the home. The role is predominantly housekeeping-focused, with light laundry support required when needed — particularly at weekends. It calls for someone calm, reliable and practical, with strong private household experience and a professional, team-minded approach.

Key responsibilities

• Daily housekeeping and presentation of the residence to a consistently high standard
• Bedroom, bathroom and living-area presentation, including bed-making and linen changes
• Evening turndown service as part of the household routine
• Light laundry support, including washing, ironing, steaming and pressing, mainly at weekends
• Supporting the Head Housekeeper and contributing to the day-to-day standards of the household team

The candidate

You will be an experienced private household housekeeper with a strong background in formal, fully staffed homes.

You are comfortable working within an established team, taking direction from a Head Housekeeper and holding your own standards within that structure. This position suits someone with a genuine eye for detail, a calm working manner and a natural pride in doing things properly. You are practical, well presented and at ease in a lively household with children and a dog. Discretion is simply part of how you work.

Essential requirements

• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Previous experience in a formal or fully staffed private household
• Verifiable references covering recent employment
• DBS check at the level appropriate to the role, or willingness to undertake one
• Strong housekeeping skills and excellent attention to detail
• Confident working as part of an established household team
• Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work five days out of seven, including occasional weekends

The package

Salary £45,000 – £50,000 gross per annum, depending on experience.

This is a live-out position based in Kensington. The working pattern is five days out of seven, with occasional weekend work. Meals are provided daily while on duty. The start date is as soon as the right candidate is available.
