The household

A private household in Belgravia is seeking an experienced Nanny-Governess for two school-age children, aged seven and ten.

The household is well structured and supported by experienced staff. The family travels regularly, so the role would suit someone comfortable moving between a London routine and periods abroad with the family. They are looking for a warm, consistent presence who will support the children’s learning with patience, judgement and genuine care.

The role

This is a Nanny-Governess position combining after-school care, academic support and educational continuity during family travel.

In London, the role will focus on afternoon routines, homework, supervised study and enrichment outside school hours. During travel periods, the role may extend to fuller care and structured learning when the children are not in school. It would suit someone with a strong educational background who also brings the attentiveness, steadiness and emotional intelligence of an experienced nanny.

Key responsibilities

• After-school care, homework support and supervised study for both children
• Planning and supporting enrichment activities, reading, language practice and wider learning
• Managing the children’s after-school routines and extra-curricular commitments
• Accompanying the family during international travel and maintaining educational continuity
• Communicating clearly with parents and school staff
• Nurturing the children’s confidence, curiosity and wider development
• Occasional evening or weekend support as agreed with the family

The candidate

You will have a strong educational background, ideally to degree level or equivalent, with genuine experience supporting school-age children in a private household or comparable setting.

You should be warm, patient and confident, with the ability to encourage learning without making it feel forced. This position would suit someone organised, perceptive and attuned to children’s needs — someone who can hold structure while still bringing calm and kindness to their day. Prior experience travelling with families is an advantage, as is a second language, though neither is essential.

Essential requirements

• Right to work in the United Kingdom
• Degree-level education or relevant formal qualification
• Demonstrable experience in a Nanny-Governess, governess or senior nanny role
• Confidence in sole charge of school-age children
• Verifiable references from comparable private household positions
• Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undertake one
• Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally with the family
• A discreet, calm and professional manner

The package

Salary £50,000 – £60,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

This is a live-out position while the family is in London. Accommodation and reasonable expenses are provided during travel periods. The working pattern is primarily Monday to Friday, with flexibility required during international travel and occasional evening or weekend support as agreed.
